On 13 January 2015 the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate unanimously agreed to incorporate the monk Paisios of Mt. Athos into the registry of the Saints of the Orthodox Church.
St Paisios of Mt Athos slept in the Lord on Saturday July 12, 1994. St Paisios’ life and teachings touched the life of thousands of people around the world and continues to do so to this day. In 1977, upon the invitation of His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos, St Paisios visited Australia. During his stay in Australia he also visited our monastery. Since that visit on many occasions he expressed his paternal love, ongoing spiritual advice, support and other gestures of love including the gifting of several relics of Saints, in particular St Arsenios of Cappadocia, and later in the 1980’s personally gave the relics of St Euphemia, St Theodore the Studite and several other relics and religious items.
We have included below a photo taken of him on this visit.
God is wondrous among His Saints! May we have his blessing!
