With much joy we would like to share with you a new initiative which our Monastery has been slowly experimenting with over the last few years, and is now, with God’s help, in a position to slowly implement. Our prayer is that this initiative may provide an income stream for the Monastery’s needs without imposing further upon the friends of Pantanassa Monastery, who have been very supportive.
The initiative I am referring to is the sale of good quality second hand, or near new, items such as men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, homewares, bags, bric and brac, jewellery, toys, furniture etc. We have leased a shop in Campsie, whilst another in Hurlstone Park is provided free of rent by a well-known Greek businessman. The entire project is overseen by Pantanassa Monastery with the help of volunteers who wish to support the Monastery’s building project. For the project to be successful it requires persons who wholeheartedly and with much enthusiasm volunteer their services.
An important aspect of this initiative is that it also helps make available good quality items at low prices to members of the community who cannot afford these items at new retail prices.
The shops go under the name, ‘Oppshoppers Australia’.
You can help this initiative by either offering to volunteer or to help collect good quality second hand items. For further information please contact the monastery on 4374 1060.
